11/20 Blogsvertise

Blogsvertise; the new age of Blog Advertising.

Blogsvertise your website!  What exactly is Blogsvertising?  Basically you are paying bloggers to write post or stories about your business on their blogs and include a text link to your site.  They will review your website, and write a relevant story and place it on their website.

You gain a couple benefits from it.  First, and most importantly, you can build your Page Rank by getting relevant, text based anchor links with no indication of them being purchased.  This means you can boost your Page Rank fairly significantly in a much faster time than just having one or two people building links.

Secondly, these articles can serve as a great referral source.  People read blogs, and people will follow links in articles.  By having unique articles about your business all over the web in relevant markets, you increase your exposure and incoming referral sites.

I plan on following this blogsvertise company to see how this all pans out.  I will write some updates to this post over the next couple of weeks but feel free to post your comments here and I will try to reply as soon as possible.

10/20 Future of the Internet

The Internet as we know it now will not be the same five years down the road. What will the internet look like at that point in time? My guess is it will be similar to a virtual world where you are represented by a virtual character. You won’t go to websites or search engines any longer to find what you want. Instead you will go to this virtual world directory and search through a navigation to find the store, product, or whatever it is you are looking for and “teleport” directly to where you want to go. If you haven’t seen the game “Second Life” yet, it depicts where I think the internet may go. Right now, that game has online stores your character can visit and buy psuedo clothing and items but I think over time, this will progress into your character being able to buy real life goods and services that can and will ship the actual products to you in the real world. This would greatly expand the user experience for any type of ecommerce business.

As of now, this is just a game but I am going to keep a very close eye on the development of this because I think it will revolutionize the Internet as we all know it today.

10/17 Optimize My Blog

Are you ever curious how to get your blog to show up better for keywords that you may want to be found for? Well it is actually quite simple on one level and intricately detailed on another. For the basic blog, all you really need to do is adjust your Permilinks options to create a static URL structure.

You will probably only want to do this if you have a new blog, otherwise you will loose all of your positions because you won’t have anything on your previous URLs because they will no longer exist. It would take you a couple months to rebound.

Once that is completed, you need to find out what keywords people use to search for what you want to be found for. Sound simple enough? Well if you don’t have keyword research software you can just try to think of how you might search for what you do. Then write a whole bunch of post using those keywords or search terms as your titles. Your blog will probably pull the title into the filename and the Page Title so it does a lot of the work for you.

Once that is accomplished, you will want to submit your stories or post to a number of locations such as digg.com and technorati. There are tons of places that you can submit to but you just have to do a little research on that one.

Well that is the quick simple explanation… I don’t want to go into too much detail at this point because I am writing a couple other posts that will contain the business blog optimization which will go into the intricately detailed approach to blog optimization.

Thanks,

10/02 Corporate Blog Information

Learn how to locate online business communication and steps you can take to help control the existing communications.

The Business Blog also known as the corporate blog is a very essential part of the traditional website today. Your customers and competitors are placing comments, questions, complaints, and more about your business every day on the internet. How do you monitor all this information? There are a couple ways to get a handle on all the information. Below provides a very basic strategy and you may need to have some level of technical background to accomplish this. First off, you will want to locate what is already out there.

Steps to locate what already exist:

  1. 1. Go to www.technorati.com or www.digg.com and type in your company name. It will bring back any relevant results. These are feeds that will take you the actual articles.
  2. 2. Install Google Reader or another RSS reader. There are multiple XML or RSS readers that will do the job.
  3. 3. Find the XML link or “add to RSS” button on the relevant articles. Submit this newly found feed to your new RSS Readers. This will automatically pull any other relevant that is attached to the blog that your business is the topic off. You can monitor the online communications through your reader on a daily basis.
  4. 4. You can also go to Google and type in your business name and look at the search engine results pages to see if there are any prominent websites of interest. Browse through those websites. Locate any XML or RSS feed buttons. Add those to your new reader.

Steps to control online business communication

  1. 1. You will want to create a corporate blog or business blog that you control. Install a blog system on your existing website in the “blog” directory. You may need to hire a web development firm or technology firm to accomplish this. It needs to be set up to be Search Engine Friendly so that it has a certain level of competitiveness for the relevant information.
  2. 2. Submit this new blog to all the multiple blog directories out there. Gain some exposure, go to the existing blogs and insert comments with links to your “official blog”. Get it out there that you want to listen to your customers.
  3. 3. Maintain an active role in the business blog. If people are trying to communicate with you and do not every hear back, it could send a worse signal than if you had no blog at all. Write articles, post news updates, be personal with your customers.
  4. 4. Syndicate your blog. Allow for active RSS feed through your development setup by putting “add to RSS” very prominently near the blog.
  5. 5. Install your own blog on your reader so you can place close attention to it.

This is a very basic tutorial but should give you a very basic overview about how to identify online business communication and how to help control negative business communication through your own corporate blog.
